Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has reportedly been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with West Ham United interested.

Ben Jacobs has told teamTALK that West Ham United have always liked Manchester United striker Anthony Martial. And they could look to make a move for him at the end of the season.

He said to teamTALK, “Anthony Martial is another one to watch. West Ham have really liked the player in the past and a Monaco return is not unthinkable either. It’s a shame really because everyone at Manchester United likes Martial. But fitness has been a problem and that might well provoke a move.”

Apparently Manchester United will look to offload some of their fringe players during the summer transfer window. And Martial is considered as one of the expendables. Jacobs claims that the French striker is liked at Old Trafford. But his fitness concerns are a major issue.

Martial was expected to develop into a world-class player when he moved to Manchester United from AS Monaco in a €60 million deal. But he has not developed as expected. The player still finds himself on the fringes of the first team. And it would be ideal for him to move on and pursue a new challenge.

Meanwhile, West Ham need to add to their attacking options, especially after the way Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio have performed this season. Their profligacy in front of the goal is the main reason they are in a relegation battle this season.

The Hammers will have to invest in a quality attacker. And Martial could prove to be a superb acquisition for them. The French striker is well-settled in the Premier League, and he should be able to make an immediate impact if he moves to West Ham at the end of the season.

The 27-year-old will get regular football at the London club. And it might help him get his career back on track. If he can overcome his persistent injury problems, the Manchester United striker could be an asset for David Moyes next season.

Apart from his ability to find the back of the net, the Frenchman is an exceptional dribbler, and he will add pace and unpredictability to the West Ham attack as well. Meanwhile Manchester United will need to find a goalscorer themselves. And they have shown interest in several strikers, including Tammy Abraham.

They have been overly reliant on Marcus Rashford this season. So Erik ten Hag must look to bring in someone who can support the England international, especially after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. As for Martial, his departure might bring Manchester United a fraction of the €60 million they paid to sign him.
