Chelsea ready to sell five senior stars in the upcoming summer transfer window

According to Football Insider, Premier League giants Chelsea are ready to part ways with five senior stars in the upcoming summer transfer windows.

The Blues are under new management but that has not stopped them from going out and splurging money in the transfer windows. Todd Boehly’s rebuild has seen an enormous amount of cash being thrown at strengthening the club over the last two transfer windows.

However, that has done little to boost the side’s fortunes as they continue to languish in the tenth spot. Qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League looks like a mighty task given their current run of form.

Not bringing in the competition’s riches will certainly hit the club’s revenue streams. Given the current size of the roster, cuts are to be expected and five players have been earmarked as potential departures.

The Blues will entertain offers for the quintet of Mason Mount, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Conor Gallagher. All five stars have struggled for game time this season and are far from first-XI stars under Graham Potter. It makes sense for the club to cash in on them and reinvest the amount elsewhere.

Mason Mount continues to negotiate a new deal but the 24-year-old’s form has fallen off a cliff. With the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona circling, the Blues are better off offloading him in the summer. With a summer shake-up on the cards, the Cobham graduate is likely to be one of the first names out of the club.

The same can be said for fellow Englishmen Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Both players were also made available for transfer in January but an agreement could be struck. It would now appear that they are in their final few months as Chelsea stars.

Ziyech came close to leaving the club in January only for a Chelsea bottle job to derail his move to Paris Saint-Germain. Clearly out of favour, he will be allowed to move on once the summer window opens. The Blues have recently been linked to Neymar and it is debatable if Ziyech could be made a part of the deal to sweeten it for PSG.

Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was dropped from the club’s Champions League knockouts roster, a fair indication of his standing at the club. The fact that the Blues chose to do so despite the squad crying out for a forward does not augur well. Whether it be the MLS or otherwise, the Gabonese international will be moved on.
