Newcastle United want to sign 27-year-old French midfielder Adrien Rabiot ahead of next season on a priority basis.
According to a report by Fichajes, Premier League club Newcastle United have identified Adrien Rabiot as a priority target for the summer of 2023. The richest club in world football are looking to add more quality to their squad ahead of next season. And, they have Rabiot on their list of targets.
The 27-year-old has revived himself over the past year and a half. He has been absolutely sensational for both club and country in the ongoing season. Rabiot was exceptional at the FIFA World Cup 2022.
The France team was without some of their biggest names at the global event. And, he stepped up big time to help his nation. The Juventus midfielder played an important part in his nation’s journey to the final in Qatar.
Adrien Rabiot joined Juventus back in the summer of 2019 after his contract at Paris Sant-German expired. Initially, it was difficult for the 27-year-old to get game time at the Turin-based club. But, he has slowly found his mojo back and is now a regular on the team.
The France international has featured in over 150 matches for the Old Lady and has been involved in 20 goals. In the ongoing season, he has played 25 matches and has 8 goal contributions to his name.
However, his contract at Juve ends in the summer of 2023, which means he will be a free agent in five months’ time. As a result a lot of interest in his services from across Europe is understandable.
The richest club in world football is ready to go all out to secure Rabiot in the summer. The Magpies have the financial backing to give him a lucrative contract and persuade him to join them. Eddie Howe’s team are currently fourth in the Premier League. They are on course to secure Champions League football for next season.
Meanwhile, if they manage to secure UCL football for next season, it will make things easy for them in their pursuit of the French World Cup finalist. Howe will look to add more quality to his team in order to push for the Premier League title in the next season.
The Magpies boss is keen on adding a midfielder into the mix. He has Rabiot at the top of his list and given his form of late, he will be a huge signing for them. But, it will be interesting to see if they can manage to strike a deal with the midfielder given the interest from elsewhere.
