Mason Mount makes fresh wage demands from Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has demanded a significant pay rise in order to sign a new contract with the club.

According to a report from Football Insider, Mason Mount is demanding pay parity with players like Raheem Sterling in order to extend his contract with the London club.

Apparently, talks between the club and the player have stalled because of his demands and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea are prepared how to make him one of the highest earners at the club in order to extend his stay at Stamford bridge.

Mason Mount has less than 18 months left on his current contract and he earns around £80,000 a week.

However, his teammates are currently earning substantially more than the England midfielder, especially with players like Raheem Sterling taking home £325,000 per week.

Defender Reece James recently signed an extension with Chelsea and he has been offered a contract worth around £250,000 as well.

Mount has been Chelsea’s best player over the last two seasons and he certainly deserves a pay rise.

The player is thought to be on the radar of Liverpool and Juventus who have a genuine interest in signing him.

The latest developments regarding Mount’s contract renewal will certainly come as a boost to the Reds who are in need of midfield reinforcements. Liverpool are likely to lose players like Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain at the end of the season and Mount would be a superb acquisition for them.

The Chelsea midfielder will have just 12 months left on his deal at the end of the season and he could be available for a reasonable price in the summer. Chelsea might not want to lose him on a free transfer at the end of next season and therefore they could explore a potential sale in the summer if he refuses to pen an extension.

The 24-year-old is well-settled in the Premier League and he could make an immediate impact at Anfield next season.

Mount will add goals and creativity from the middle of the park and Chelsea will certainly miss someone like him if he decides to move on.
