Chelsea have 23-year-old Dusan Vlahovic on their summer list for potential striker targets, including Victor Osimhen.
According to Simon Phillips via Give Me Sport, Chelsea retains an interest in Dusan Vlahovic ahead of the summer window. The Blues will enter the market for a brand new striker, following their spending in other areas of the pitch in recent windows.
Dusan Vlahovic’s career at Juventus hasn’t gone to plan since moving from Fiorentina over a year ago. Amid all the uncertainties surrounding the Italian giants following the FIGC ruling, there are chances of many of their top players departing in the summer.
Vlahovic could be part of that list, as the Bianconeri will look to recoup a significant chunk of their investments in many of these stars. For instance, Weston McKennie left Juventus for Leeds United in January, which is only the beginning of what is to come.
Reports suggested the 23-year-old got offered to several Premier League sides in January, but no one wanted to invest significantly in a forward in mid-season. However, the situation could change when the summer window opens as many English teams will look for a new No.9.
Real Madrid are reportedly keen on the Serbian. Yet, the lure of the Premier League could prove sufficient to bring Vlahovic to England as the 23-year-old may look for a new start. In addition, Manchester United and Chelsea are keen on a new frontman, as they could look at the Juventus star for solutions.
Chelsea considers Victor Osimhen their primary target, but the Blues are nowhere near favourites to sign the Napoli man. Moreover, his reported €150 million price tag could prove a stumbling block for many clubs, including the London giants, meaning an alternate approach could make sense.
Hence, Chelsea could make a summer approach for Vlahovic if they fail to sign Osimhen. Journalist Simon Phillips also suggested the Blues ‘definitely’ have the Serbian on their shortlist.
Phillips said, “Chelsea have always had an interest in Dusan Vlahovic; he’s still there. Victor Osimhen has been scouted by Chelsea a lot in the last year, he’s definitely on the list.”
Vlahovic could prove a big purchase for Chelsea in their efforts to gain domestic and European supremacy. Graham Potter would welcome the addition of the Serbian to his already young-looking but expensively assembled squad. The Blues spent over €300 million in January alone to sign many top talents, including Enzo Fernandez and Mykhaylo Mudryk.
