Real Madrid considering summer move for Richarlison

Real Madrid will reportedly mull over signing Richarlison, whose market value is €55 million, from Tottenham in the summer.

According to a report by ESPN, Real Madrid will look to bolster the offensive unit in the summer. And the reigning La Liga champions plan to sign a striker amid Karim Benzema’s fitness issues this term. Richarlison has thus popped up on Los Blancos’ radar over a possible move ahead of 2023/24.

Richarlison has been one of the most enigmatic figures in the Premier League in the last half a decade. The 25-year-old rose to prominence after his short stint with Watford. And his stock skyrocketed during his spell with Everton, post which he joined Tottenham Hotspur last summer.

But the Brazilian international has endured fitness issues this term, managing less than 1,000 minutes of game time. Despite that, Richarlison’s market value has risen to €55 million in the last few months. And the player has popped up on the radar of Real Madrid over a possible summer move.

Carlo Ancelotti is a keen admirer of Richarlison and has asked Real Madrid to sign him in the last two summer transfer windows. The Tottenham attacker enjoyed his career’s best phase under the Italian tactician. And Ancelotti grew fond of the player during their time together at Goodison Park.

Richarlison’s versatility makes him an attractive target for Real Madrid heading into the summer transfer window. The reigning La Liga champions are in the market for multiple attackers this year. That is because Marco Asensio and Eden Hazard face uncertain futures at the Santiago Bernabeu. Such a situation necessitates the arrival of a winger.

But Karim Benzema’s fitness woes have prompted Real Madrid to scour the market for a striker. Dusan Vlahovic has thus emerged as a viable target. But Richarlison is an even more appealing option, as he can play across the frontline. So he can act as a deputy for Benzema and Vinicius Junior. At the same time, the 25-year-old can compete with Rodrygo Goes on the right flank.

With his market value at €55 million, Richarlison’s price tag might be less than Vlahovic. Meanwhile, the Brazilian international is not the only Tottenham attacker on Real Madrid’s radar, with Harry Kane also a reported target. But the former Watford talisman seems to be the ideal option to reinforce the Real Madrid attack.
