La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly contemplating signing Harry Kane from Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

According to Football Espana, Harry Kane is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a move in the summer transfer window. The reigning La Liga champions are considering the 29-year-old Tottenham Hotspur striker as a replacement for the ageing Karim Benzema.

Harry Kane has established a lasting legacy in the Premier League since enjoying his Tottenham breakthrough. The Englishman became a regular for the north Londoners after a few loan spells in lower leagues. And he has been a pivotal figure for Tottenham for nearly a decade.

At the same time, Kane has risen to the top of English football, becoming the Three Lions’ captain. And the 29-year-old is enjoying a solid 2022/23 season, amassing 17 goals and three assists in 26 appearances. The player looks primed to break scoring records in the Premier League and for England. But Real Madrid might look to stop him from achieving immortality in the English top flight.

The Merengues want to sign Kane in the summer transfer window amid Karim Benzema’s fitness woes. The Real Madrid captain has struggled with injuries this season, missing a good chunk of the campaign thus far. And with Carlo Ancelotti not having any other reliable striker at his disposal, he needs Real Madrid to delve into the market.

Several strikers have thus emerged on Real Madrid’s radar, including the versatile Marcus Thuram. But Kane is also a viable target for Los Blancos, considering he is at the peak of his powers. At 29, he is the right age profile to take over from Benzema for a few years before Endrick, who will join Real Madrid next year, becomes the first-choice striker.

Considering Kane wanted to join Manchester City to achieve his ambitions of winning silverware at the club level, he might not turn down the chance to move to Real Madrid. But with Manchester United also interested, Real Madrid will face stiff competition for the Englishman.

Joining Manchester United will also enable Kane to break the all-time scoring record in the Premier League. But Real Madrid will guarantee him silverware more than Manchester United can. But it is unclear if the 29-year-old will even be open to leaving Tottenham for a new challenge.
