£40 million sounds like value for money, even though the 27-year-old will be is in the final year of his contract. And Brentford could be tempted to accept Chelsea’s proposal if it is presented. Apparently, the player is keen on moving away from Brentford at the end of the season, and he has already rejected two contract offers from the club.

The Spaniard is at the peak of his career right now and will want to play for a top club. Raya has the ability to succeed at the highest level. And a move to Chelsea would be a major step up in his career. Playing for the Blues could help him cement his place in the Spanish national team as well. He would get to challenge for the major trophies as well. It remains to be seen how the situation develops over the next few months.

Chelsea already have Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga as the current goalkeepers. While Kepa has held down the starting berth at Stamford Bridge this season, Mendy has been linked with an exit at the end of the season. The arrival of Raya could push the Senegalese goalkeeper further down the pecking order. So a summer exit would be ideal for all parties.
