Newcastle United and Fulham are keen on the 21-year-old French goalkeeper. However, both clubs are vying for a backup at this point, considering the summer arrivals at both sides have locked the No.1 spot. The Magpies, in particular, have been looking for a deputy in January and had to recall Martin Dubravka from his loan at Manchester United.

Illan Meslier was reportedly linked previously. However, the Leeds United star’s status means he will likely move on to a team where he plays as the first choice. That could be the case with Chevalier, as he might only join a club where he is the No.1.

Eddie Howe will likely urge Newcastle United to make an approach. But from Chevalier’s perspective, he may not see them benching Pope in the near future. Instead, they might continue to look for other options for the England international’s deputy.

Meanwhile, Marco Silva is also keen on a backup keeper to Bernd Leno. The idea of joining Fulham could entice many players as the Cottagers are rising in the Premier League. They are in line to make it into Europe next season. So players like Chevalier may consider joining them.

Mads Hermansen is among their targets who might become an achievable name. Pursuing Chevalier could bring optimism. And the player could challenge Leno for a place in the starting lineup.

Hence, approaching him may appeal to Fulham as they continue to build their squad to the optimal levels. The 21-year-old French goalkeeper will strengthen the side. However, Lille would demand a considerable amount considering the keeper still has a contract until 2027.
