Liverpool are interested in landing 21-year-old Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio in the summer transfer window.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are going through tough times and will be eager to turn things around with a few signings ahead of the next season. According to a report by Football Transfers, Liverpool want to sign Sporting CP centre-back Goncalo Inacio.
The Merseyside club are currently 10th in the Premier League. They are likely to miss out on Champions League football next season. The only way for them to make it to the biggest tournament in Europe is by winning it in the ongoing season. A task that looks beyond their reach at the moment.
Liverpool will head into the market to look for fresh blood to reignite the fire in them. Klopp’s men have a long list of transfer targets for the summer and Goncalo Inacio is a part of that list. The 21-year-old has impressed all with his performances for Sporting CP over the past year and a half.
Inacio’s current contract with the Portuguese side ends in 2026. But, the club might still be willing to sell if they get the right price for the young prospect. The Portugal U21 defender joined Sporting back in 2012 and has gone up the ranks since arriving as a kid.
Inacio has made over 100 appearances for the Sporting CP senior team. He has been a regular on their team for a while now. The 21-year-old defender has shown signs of immense potential and Liverpool’s interest in his services is understandable.
In the ongoing season, he has made 31 appearances for the club. Despite being a centre-back he has four goal contributions. While he might not be ready to start in the Premier League from the get-go, he can surely increase their squad depth and eventually became a regular at Anfield.
The Liverpool manager wants to add more quality to his defence but his priority is the midfield. The Merseyside club is likely to break the bank to acquire their midfielder targets, Jude Bellingham and Matheus Nunes. Klopp is willing to spend on acquiring a defender as well, but he is looking for a young prospect who will not cost the club a fortune.
