Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing the South American youngster Kendry Paez.

According to journalist Eduardo Erazo, Chelsea have tried to sign Kendry Paez recently. And the west London club submitted a bid of around £14.8 million for the 15-year-old.

Kendry Paez is highly rated in South America and the Ecuador youngster is regarded as one of the best young talents in the world. Chelsea have shown a willingness to invest in talented young players since their takeover. And it is no surprise that they have made a move for the Independiente del Valle teenager.

The 15-year-old is a part of the club’s youth team and will be hoping to force his way into the first team scene soon. The Ecuadorian prodigy won’t be able to move to a European club until he turns 18. And it is no surprise that Chelsea have had their offer rejected by Independiente.

The Ecuadorian club will be hoping to make more money from his sale in the coming seasons when he has developed further and improved more as a footballer. Apparently, Borussia Dortmund were keen on signing the player as well and the German club had offered a fee of around £12.3 million for his services.

The 15-year-old is clearly a prodigious talent with a big future ahead of him. And he needs to join a club where he can continue his development with regular game time. At Chelsea, he will have to compete with established stars. So a move to Germany could be ideal for him in the near future.

Borussia Dortmund have a proven track record of grooming talented young players, and they could help Paez develop into an established star. The player has been linked with Premier League giants Manchester United in the past. And it will be interesting to see if the Red Devils decide to reignite their interest in the player in the coming seasons.

Paez will need to choose his next destination carefully and he cannot afford to join a big club just to sit on the bench. He has a bright career ahead of him and he can only achieve his true potential if he gets ample opportunities to showcase his qualities, under a manager who is ready to trust in him.
