Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been linked with a move away from Chelsea over the last few days, with the MLS his next destination.

According to a report from Le 10 Sport, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is very close to leaving Premier League club Chelsea. And the 33-year-old striker is expected to head to Major League Soccer, with Los Angeles FC his next destination.

Aubameyang has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, and he was recently left out of Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League squad. The decision from Chelsea left the player disappointed, and he is keen on leaving the club soon. MLS clubs can still sign players, and Los Angeles FC have reportedly secured an agreement with Chelsea for the experienced striker.

Aubameyang returned to the Premier League from Barcelona at the start of the season but he has not been able to recapture his top form. The Chelsea misfit was linked with a return to Spain in recent weeks.

According to the report, the player is now heading to the MLS on loan, and Chelsea will be able to get him off their wage bill for the remainder of the season. The former Arsenal captain earns €9 million per season at Stamford Bridge, and it makes sense for the Blues to let him leave the club when is not contributing adequately.

Aubameyang will be hoping to get his career back on track with regular football in the United States. And it remains to be seen whether he can secure a permanent move to the MLS at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old remains a quality player on his day, and he could have a significant impact at LAFC. As for Chelsea, it will be interesting to see if they decide to bring in a new striker at the end of the season.

Following the departure of Aubameyang, Armando Broja, and David Fofana are the only options at Graham Potter’s disposal. And the Chelsea manager will be desperate to bring in a more reliable goal scorer in the summer. The Blues have shown interest in strikers like Ivan Toney.

Chelsea have improved their squad significantly over the last two transfer windows. But they still lead to address their goalscoring problems if they want to challenge for the league title in the coming seasons.
