Arsenal and Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Ansu Fati, with Jorge Mendes set to discuss his future with Barcelona.

According to a report from Spanish outlet COPE, Arsenal and Manchester United have been in touch with Jorge Mendes to enquire about a potential summer move for Ansu Fati. The Barcelona attacker’s agent will soon discuss his future with the Blaugrana.

However, the highly-talented winger is keen on playing for Barcelona in the coming seasons. And the Catalan club’s hierarchy is not willing to sanction his departure either despite contrary reports in recent weeks. However, the player’s camp is quite concerned with this situation at Spotify Camp Nou this season.

Fati is no longer a key player for Barcelona, and he has been used as a squad option this season. The 20-year-old needs to play regularly to continue his development and fulfill his world-class potential. However, he has not been an important part of Xavi Hernandez’s plans at Barcelona.

It will be interesting to see if the Barcelona manager is willing to reintegrate the talented young winger into his starting lineup in the coming months. Fati has a contract with Barcelona until the summer of 2027, and he has a release clause what around €1 billion.

It goes without saying that no club in the world would look to trigger his release clause. So suitors like Arsenal and Manchester United can only sign him if the player decides to push for a move or Barcelona decide to cash in on him. At the moment, Barcelona and Fati are not keen on a potential transfer, and a summer move seems highly unlikely.

Arsenal need to add more depth to their front three, and the Spanish international winger would have been an exceptional long-term signing. Despite his injury problems in recent seasons, he has the potential to develop into a superstar in the future. And Mikel Arteta could have helped him improve further.

As for Manchester United, the likes of Anthony Martial could leave the club at the end of the season. And Ansu Fati would have been a superb acquisition for Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman has done well to nurture young players throughout his managerial career and the Barcelona winger is likely to thrive under his management. But a summer move seems unlikely for Manchester United and Arsenal.
