Everton are trying to sign Andre Ayew in an out-of-window deal on a free transfer to bolster their attack.

According to Football Insider, despite the transfer window being shut, Andre Ayew is still a target for Everton. The Toffees are attempting an out-of-window signing of the 33-year-old free agent, who has already left Qatari side Al-Sadd.

The transfer window shut on Tuesday night, which ended with Chelsea announcing a Premier League record deal for Enzo Fernandez. Many other clubs conducted business on deadline day to bolster their respective sides and now will look forward to the remainder of the season.

Only Everton failed to make a single signing in this window, despite repeated attempts to sign some attacking talents. They also lost Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United and looked to re-invest that money into new players.

Everton made a £45 million bid for Conor Gallagher. But the player reportedly refused the move. They also came very close to signing Arnaut Danjuma and conducted his medicals. Despite the deal reaching such an advanced stage, Tottenham were able to nick the forward away from Merseyside.

Similarly, there were other deals close to the deadline day that Everton could not complete. The situation summed up their recent crisis, which included backlash from fans, the sacking of Frank Lampard and the club languishing in the relegation zone.

New manager Sean Dyche was hopeful of securing at least one signing and possibly an attacker. They had links with Kamaldeen Sulemana, who eventually joined relegation rivals Southampton. They had kept a few contingent options in the background, and one of them could still sign for the club.

Everton were linked with Andre Ayew late in the window but relaxed on their interest after chasing other targets. The 33-year-old free agent is still available for a transfer after departing Qatari club Al-Sadd recently.

Everton are reportedly attempting an out-of-the-window signing to bring the 33-year-old free agent to Merseyside. Ayew will represent a reliable but cheap option for Dyche, who remains desperate to shore up his attacking lineup.

The report insists a move could be imminent, which could mark a return to the Premier League for the Ghanaian. Ayew previously featured for Swansea City and West Ham United and knows the Premier League well. In hindsight, it could prove a good signing for Everton in the short term.
