Crystal Palace are reportedly keen to sign Albert Sambi Lokonga on loan from Arsenal for the remainder of the season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace and Arsenal are discussing a loan deal for Sambi Lokonga. Patrick Vieira is keen to add a midfielder in this window and may look to bring the Gunners star before the transfer deadline.

The transfer window is set for a frantic end as many deals could yet materialise. Arsenal have had a busy period this month, but they have fulfilled their primary objectives with necessary signings. The Gunners were hopeful of strengthening the side ahead of the title push.

Mikel Arteta wanted a new wide attacker, a central defender, and a midfielder. After the setback in chasing Mykhaylo Mudryk, Arsenal secured Leandro Trossard from Brighton. Shortly after that, they signed Jakub Kiwior as cover for central defence.

Arteta’s biggest worry was finding a viable cover or competition for Thomas Partey. The Ghanaian midfielder is one of Arsenal’s most important players this season. The club had suffered in his injury-enforced absence last season, and the manager did not want to repeat the situation.

Hence, Arsenal tried their best to sign Moises Caicedo. But Brighton rejected two huge bids from the Gunners. With the Seagulls holding firm on their stance, Arteta swiftly turned his attention towards Jorginho. Arsenal have since agreed on a deal with Chelsea for the Italian international.

Jorginho’s arrival could spell a temporary end for Albert Sambi Lokonga at the club. Arteta has not given up on the 23-year-old Belgian midfielder but may want him to get valuable experience elsewhere and possibly more minutes than he’s playing now. Fabrizio Romano mentions a move to Crystal Palace today as the two clubs hold talks.

A move may materialise before today’s deadline, as Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira remains keen to add a new midfielder. Lokonga could prove a good addition and get ample minutes in the second part of the season.

The 23-year-old could return to Arsenal in the summer and possibly challenge the others for a place on Arteta’s side. The arrival of Jorginho will push him down the pecking order, which may further reduce his minutes.
