Tottenham might have to end up paying the €45 million release clause for Pedro Porro as they prepare a ‘final’ offer to convince Sporting CP.

According to Record via Sport Witness, Tottenham are reportedly preparing a ‘final’ offer to convince Sporting CP over Pedro Porro. The Portuguese side have stood firm in demanding the right-back’s €45 million release clause, but Spurs are seemingly unwilling to give up.

Tottenham continue to languish in uncertain territories with many of their ongoing problems. For one, they are steadily slipping out of a top-four race, and there is plenty of uncertainty with the future of their manager and star man Harry Kane.

Antonio Conte’s future at the club has come into question once again, but on the other hand, the club are not giving absolute assurances to the Italian over transfers. Since the start of the current window, Tottenham have chased Pedro Porro as their primary target.

The right-back position is considered problematic by Conte. Despite having about three viable options, the manager seems unconvinced and seeks Porro as his preferred target. Spurs have reportedly failed with a €34 million offer before, as Sporting CP referred them to the player’s €45 million release clause.

Tottenham have shown an unwillingness to pay the entire fee and always looked to negotiate using various tactics. They also offered 50% of Marcus Edwards’ rights, hoping to reduce the asking price. Yet, Sporting are adamant they want the full release clause for the €45 million-rated Real Madrid target.

The Spanish giants are interested in signing the 23-year-old defender as well, especially with Dani Carvajal in his twilight years. Los Blancos will have to replace the Spanish international and the Sporting defender could be the ideal long-term option.

Spurs have continued to hold talks with Sporting, hoping to find a new solution. They are now reportedly readying a ‘final’ offer to convince the Portuguese side as they remain convinced about the player’s willingness to join them.

Whether Sporting cave in and accept their offer remains the question. Porro could strengthen the right side of the defence and help the team revive their fortunes in the top-four race. The chase is proving tricky for Tottenham, who may continue to pursue the defender until late in the window.
