Liverpool interested in Federico Chiesa

Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Italian international Federico Chiesa, valued at €60 million by Juventus.

According to a report from Calciomercatoweb, Federico Chiesa is on the radar of the Premier League side Liverpool, as they look to bring in more attacking reinforcements in the coming months. Juventus will demand around €60 million to part ways with the Italian international.

It Is highly unlikely that Juventus will sanction a departure for the 25-year-old this month. So Liverpool will have to wait until the summer transfer window to sign him. The Reds have been tracking him since 2021.

Chiesa recently recovered from a long-term injury, and he has managed to make just eight appearances across all competitions. The Italian international was expected to develop into a world-class player following his performances at UEFA Euro 2020.

However, the long-term fitness issue was a stumbling block for him. And it will be interesting to see if he can get over his injury problems and fulfil his world-class potential. Meanwhile, Juventus’s recent controversy has captured the attention of several clubs, including Liverpool.

The 25-year-old can operate on either flank, but he is a right-sided winger. And it will be interesting to see how Liverpool accommodate him in their starting lineup, especially with Mohamed Salah starting in that role.

Apparently, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is not entirely impressed with the performances of the Egyptian attacker this season. And there is a possibility that the Reds could look to part ways with him in the summer. Apparently French champions PSG are keen on signing the Liverpool superstar. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool decide to replace him with Chiesa in the coming months.

The 25-year-old has the potential to develop into a key player for Liverpool in the coming seasons, but his injury history remains a major concern. The Reds will be fully aware of the downsides of signing an injury-prone player, having missed the likes of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain most weeks since their moves to Anfield.

Klopp will be keen to avoid a similar situation. Apparently, the Italian winger is valued at €60 million. Liverpool certainly have the finances to pay that kind of money for the 25-year-old. But they have other priorities as well. The Reds will need to bring in a few central midfielders this summer, and splashing €60 million on a winger might not be on top of their priority list.
