Liverpool are among the clubs eyeing a potential swoop for Italy’s overnight sensation Federico Chiesa, who is valued at around €90 million.

According to Calciomercato, Federico Chiesa has become a hot topic in England, especially after his heroics in the ongoing European Championship. Currently on loan at Juventus until 2022, the Fiorentina winger is being courted by multiple English clubs, including Liverpool.

The Reds hunt for reinforcements in the attacking department, as Jurgen Klopp looks to further improve his squad after a disappointing season. Chiesa is one of the players Liverpool are following closely ever since his time at Fiorentina. Considering that Sadio Mane had a difficult 2020/21 season and Xherdan Shaqiri is facing an uncertain future, a move for the Italian, who can play on either flank, would make sense.

Fiorentina still owns Chiesa, but Juventus, in his two-year loan contract, do have the option of securing his services for €40 million. There are several clauses attached to the deal that may raise that figure up to €60 million, so it appears any interested party may have to shell out around €90 million in order to secure the services of the talented Italian.

Son of the revered Italian footballer Enrico Chiesa, the 23-year-old was one of Juventus’ bright sparks in an otherwise dire campaign. He was involved in 16 goals in 30 matches, becoming one of the main sources of creativity for Cristiano Ronaldo & co.

Chiesa has replicated his performances in European Championship too, starring in wins over Austria and Spain, scoring a goal in both matches. His relentless energy, combined with his dynamic style of football, seems to have attracted Klopp as well, as the German tactician looks to shore up his attacking options.

Liverpool have already been linked with a move for another Euro 2020 performer in Jeremy Doku. But in Chiesa, they might find themselves one of Italy’s biggest talents, who has considerable experience at the highest level of football.

A fee of €90 million could be a major gamble, though, especially in the current financial climate. The Reds have already appeared hesitant in meeting Bayern Munich’s demands for Kingsley Coman, although they are said to be preparing a €40 million offer for top transfer target Saul Niguez this summer.

As for Chiesa, he might be set for a future at Juventus, perhaps as the new poster boy for the club as it prepares for life without Cristiano Ronaldo. It will be interesting to see how he finishes in the ongoing European Championship, with Italy set to face England in the final at Wembley this weekend.
