La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring the situation of Pedro Porro, also a target for Tottenham and Manchester City.
According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Pedro Porro is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are tracking the situation of the Sporting CP defender. And the Spanish defender, who has a release clause worth €45 million, is also a target for Tottenham and Manchester City.
Pedro Porro has come leaps and bounds since joining Sporting CP. The 23-year-old defender rose to prominence at Girona before joining Manchester City in August 2019. But he never had the chance to make his mark at the Etihad. But since moving to Sporting CP, he has gone from strength to strength.
The Spaniard initially joined Sporting on loan for two years in August 2020 before completing a permanent transfer last summer. And Porro has enjoyed a superb 2022/23 campaign, chipping in with three goals and 11 assists in 24 appearances. The player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid, Tottenham, and Manchester City setting their sights on him.
Real Madrid will look to bring in an alternative to Dani Carvajal in the summer transfer window. That is because the veteran Spanish defender has seen his performance levels drop considerably. And with Lucas Vazquez blowing hot and cold, Real Madrid will need a new right-back. Porro has thus emerged as a viable target for Los Blancos.
As for Tottenham, the north Londoners have been the most serious suitors for the Spanish defender. They recently submitted an offer to sign the 23-year-old but have been reluctant to shell out €45 million to secure his services. But according to AS, Tottenham might soon present a new bid to land Porro.
Meanwhile, Manchester City can re-sign the player for much less than €45 million. That is because they possess a buyback clause that can enable them to bring the defender back to the Etihad. But with Rico Lewis making an impression lately, it is unclear why Manchester City might want another right-back.
Real Madrid will be monitoring the situation closely, hoping to see the Spaniard remain at Sporting CP beyond the January transfer window. But it will be interesting to see if they shell out €45 million to beat Tottenham and Manchester City to Porro’s signature in the summer.
