Newcastle United have discussed a possible move with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and they are willing to offer more money than rivals.

As relayed by Tutto Juve, Newcastle United have stepped up their pursuit of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. They have already contacted the Serbian midfielder regarding a move. The Magpies have reportedly made an offer to the midfielder and even offered more money to Serie A club Lazio than potential rivals Juventus.

Newcastle United remain keen to strengthen their squad before the January transfer window shuts down. Eddie Howe has overseen a quiet window compared to last year but hopes for reinforcements to arrive in the next two weeks.

The idea would circle around bringing in an attack-minded player to improve the current group. There are other essential needs in the squad, too. For instance, a backup right-back and defensive midfielder are also needed to add depth.

The primary signing would come in the form of a game-changing attacking midfielder. James Maddison was an ideal choice earlier. But prising him away from Leicester City mid-season would prove complicated.

It may appear that Newcastle United have switched their attention towards Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The Magpies are ready to step up the efforts to sign the midfielder from the Serie A club. However, the pursuit could prove complicated due to Lazio’s asking price and the player’s ambitions.

He would like to join a side which would guarantee success and probably trophies. He had ambitions to join one of the ‘champion’ clubs across the continent and may remain open to leaving Italy altogether. Juventus are keen on the Serbian midfielder and have reportedly made a sizeable offer.

Arsenal are also interested and reportedly tabled an offer. But their pursuit has gone cold in recent weeks. However, Newcastle remain in the background and could look to sign him, although Milinkovic-Savic is reportedly not keen to join them as things stand.

The Magpies have seemingly offered more money than Juventus, which could be around €60 million. Newcastle United are willing to pay Milinkovic-Savic around €10 million per season. The proposal is significantly higher compared to Juventus’s offer of about €7 million.

They have managed everything in their power to prise the midfielder away, but much will depend on Lazio and the Serb’s final decision. A switch to England could come to the forefront of Milinkovic-Savic’s thoughts. But he may end up waiting for other clubs to emerge in the race, notable some of the historically big-four Premier League teams or the giants of Spain.
