James Maddison remains firmly on Newcastle United’s wishlist, and they consider him as their ‘main target’.

According to Give Me Sport, Newcastle United continues to chase James Maddison. They reportedly consider the 26-year-old Premier League star as the’ main target’. Leicester City have held their ground since the summer. But if the Magpies meet their valuations, the England international could move on.

James Maddison quashed all doubts about his injuries and loss of form earlier in the season with some accomplished performances for Leicester City. The 26-year-old Premier League star has scored seven times this season while providing four assists in fourteen games this term.

Leicester City were adamant he wasn’t for sale in the summer and thwarted approaches from Newcastle United for the attacker. The Magpies were reportedly willing to pay up to £50 million in the summer, but the Foxes wanted at least £60 million to let him leave.

Newcastle United never came close to that valuation, although their stance could change in light of their position on the table. Eddie Howe has steered the club into third and remains an outsider to challenge Arsenal and Man City for the title.

They are, however, current favourites to finish in the top four, and Howe has taken up the challenge to improve his squad this month. The manager had admitted it would be tough to improve his starting eleven following good performances from his current players.

A signing like Maddison would improve those ranks and strengthen their case for Champions League football. The 26-year-old Premier League star could also consider joining the Magpies as a big upgrade.

According to the report, Newcastle United consider Maddison their ‘main target’ this month. Adding the England international would represent a big challenge for Howe. The club might be willing to pay up what’s required to prise him away.

Newcastle United are keen on signing a new attacker, possibly in the wide areas. Players like Marcus Thuram and Moussa Diaby are constantly mentioned as targets. The club are nowhere near signing those stars as things stand.

With Maddison, it could be a different scenario despite interest from elsewhere. The Leicester star would improve the current setup and bring renewed competition to the group. Whether the Magpies remain serious and willing to make an official approach remains the question.

He remains firmly on Leicester’s books, but if Newcastle United are to test the Foxes with a solid offer, the stances could change. The belief is that a £60 million offer should suffice. Maddison’s approval over the move is also imperative if the Magpies dream of making the transfer happen.

He would be the number signing, we are mentioned with every player by journalists, pundits or agents to obviously raise awareness to other teams. Then the same people love to rubbish nufc saying players don’t want to come to us, total tosh. Hwtl
