Chelsea could be ready to let go of their summer recruit Raheem Sterling and would be willing to sacrifice him in a bid to accommodate more attacking signings.

As per Football Insider, Raheem Sterling could be the first casualty for Chelsea as the West London giants are considering selling the player. Sterling joined from Manchester City for a sum of £47.5 million last summer.

The Blues have been on a spending spree and have already secured three forwards in January. Followed by the arrival of David Fofana and Joao Felix, the Blues also confirmed the signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk making them the highest-spending English club so far.

Graham Potter will not be shy to demand more signings as an injury-ravaged squad has not been of much help to the manager. He is not facing an imminent threat to his job and following the victory over Crystal Palace he will heave a sigh of relief.

Sterling has failed to create an instant impact and has only managed six goal contributions in 15 top-flight games. The English international is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury which could force him to sit in the treatment room for a couple of more weeks.

Chelsea’s injury crisis is mounting so badly that the club is considering recalling Callum Hudson-Odoi midway from his loan spell from Bayer Leverkusen. Felix will also miss two more games due to his straight red against Fulham leaving the West Londoners very thin in the attacking department.

Sterling has played on both the flanks and has also been utilised as a centre forward. The 28-year-old played under regularly Thomas Tuchel but hasn’t managed to create the influence that he used to do at Manchester City.

Chelsea are currently 10 points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester United but they still can rescue their campaign with a push in the second half of the season. A top-four finish should be their top priority and to earn that they are ready to sanction the departure of players like Sterling in this transfer window.
