West Ham offer for Terem Moffi turned down, player will cost €30 million

Lorient have turned down an offer from West Ham United for Terem Moffi, as they seek at least €30 million for the forward.

According to Sport Witness via L’Equipe, West Ham United have seen an offer rejected for Terem Moffi. The bid was worth a reported €15 million, as Lorient wants at least €30 million for the in-form Ligue 1 attacker. Other clubs are also in the race for the forward, with his future up in the air.

Lorient are having a decent season but currently boasts a good forward line. Their attackers continued their prolific form this term, with Terem Moffi standing out with 11 goals in Ligue 1. His goalscoring displays have attracted plenty of interest from England and France.

West Ham United, Southampton, and Newcastle United are interested in Moffi this month, while Nice have also made an offer. Lorient would love for the player to continue with them but remain aware of the growing attraction from other sides bigger than them.

The Ligue attacker has 18 months left on his deal, and West Ham wanted to test Lorient’s resolve over the player. They reportedly made an offer worth €15 million, which got rejected. The French side’s President has slapped a price tag of €30 million on the striker.

West Ham desperately need a new forward, as goals have been hard to come by this season. Gianluca Scamacca is getting to grips with the Premier League, but Michail Antonio is not performing anywhere close to his usual levels. He might also depart if reports are accurate.

Irrespective of the latter, David Moyes will need a solution in the attack from somewhere and may have identified Moffi as the ideal option. West Ham were also interested in Dango Ouattara, who plays for Lorient. For now, the French side are adamant about their asking price.

The report further insists that OGC Nice is also keen on Moffi and have already offered €18 million. Considering what Lorient want, Nice are only willing to go up to €20 million and may walk away from their chase. Hence, the door is open for West Ham to make an improved offer and come close to the attacker’s valuations.
