West Ham United are working towards a deal to sign Dango Ouattara from Ligue 1 club Lorient in the January transfer window.

According to a report by Media Foot, West Ham United are keen on signing 20-year-old winger Dango Ouattara from Ligue 1 club Lorient. The Burkina Faso international has been pretty impressive this season in front of the goal.

Lorient have exceeded expectations this term and are having a wonderful season. The French club have cemented their place in the sixth position in the Ligue 1 standings and will definitely fancy a European berth at the end of this campaign.

West Ham are extremely close to the relegation zone and are ahead of Everton just by goal difference. David Moyes’s season has not gone as per plan, and the Scottish manager is willing to take help from the transfer window to bolster his squad.

Ouattara has been involved in 12 goals in 17 Ligue 1 matches. And his form has not gone unnoticed, as a number of Premier League clubs are circling around for his signature. West Ham United have now joined the race to sign the 20-year-old.

Despite being a right-winger, the 20-year-old is equally fluent across the other two attacking options and can be used according to the flexibility of the side. Lorient are aware of the fact it could be pretty difficult for them to hold on to their prized asset, and a consensus can be reached regarding a transfer.

Everton have reportedly seen an offer get rejected in excess of £17 million. And West Ham will need to raise the bar if they want to bring him to the London Stadium. Time is running out as the transfer window is almost entering its business end. And they need to make a decision. Several Lorient players have attracted attention, and the Ligue 1 club would be braced for offers.

Goals have been a problem for West Ham as they have managed just 15 goals in 18 matches. The likes of Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio have failed to impress this season, and the arrival of Ouattara should ignite some confidence. The player has a contract till 2024, and Lorient will feel the heat to cash in on the player if they fail to convince him into extending his contract.
