Manchester United are monitoring the progress of AZ Alkmaar winger Jesper Karlsson as a part of their rebuilding strategy.
As reported by The Sun, Manchester United are scouting Swedish winger Jesper Karlsson, who plies his trade with AZ Alkmaar. The Red Devils have been in a transition mode, as Erik ten Hag has been given the charge to restore the glory.
The Dutch manager has already installed a well-settled system, which is reaping rich dividends and he will have total freedom when it comes to running the team. His unique team selection against Manchester City did raise a few eyebrows. But his decision was vindicated with a brilliant win over their local rivals.
The derby win should put the manager more in command, and the management will be more attentive to his demand. The Red Devils already brought in Wout Weghorst for the remainder of the season. And their attacking dynamics will be further enhanced if the 30-year-old does prove to be a shrewd signing.
Simultaneously the former Ajax manager is also planning for the future and has already ordered the scouting team to keep himself in the loop if they find talents matching his criteria. To that end, players like Jurrien Timber, Joey Veerman, and Jesper Karlsson have emerged on their radar.
Karlsson had a breakout 2021/22 season. But in the ongoing campaign, he has not really lived up to the expectations. Erik ten Hag’s addiction to bringing in players with Dutch allegiance has seen Manchester United already roping in three players. And Karlsson could be the next in line.
But any deal in January is not feasible, and the youngster could arrive in the Premier League in the summer. Manchester United are expected to invest in improving their attacking depth, and at least a wide player and a striker will be brought in by the management.

The 24-year-old Swedish winger can be stationed in both flanks and can also work as a centre forward. He has already been capped by Sweden and has been added to the watchlist by the Manchester United manager. Karlsson has a quite lengthy contract until 2026. And depending on his form the Premier League outfit might have to splash a hefty sum for his service.
