Manchester United could revive their interest in Ajax defender Jurrien Timber if the defender shines in the upcoming World Cup.

As per Give Me Sport, Manchester United might come back with a substantial offer for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber if the Dutchman has a good World Cup.

Manchester United tried their heart out, but the player stuck to his guns and remained defiant in his decision. Current Netherlands head coach Louis van Gaal instructed the player to continue his development at the club or his World Cup place would be in severe doubt.

Timber did not want to mess with his national coach and his stunt went on to be a blessing in disguise for his former teammate Lisandro Martinez, who was roped in by Erik ten Hag.

Martinez has gone on to establish his authority with some superior performances. And his display have led to him being named in the starting lineup on a regular basis.

Despite his arrival, Manchester United have still looked short in the defensive section and will bring at least one new defender next summer. Raphael Varane might get fit in time for the World Cup, but questions have been asked about the long-term future of Harry Maguire.

The former Leicester City defender has not justified his price tag at all since his record move to Old Trafford. And the Manchester United captain might want to rethink his future if he continues to be ignored.

Timber came through Ajax’s famous youth system, and at the age of 21, he has managed to attract a whole lot of clubs with his brilliant football sense. Timber can also be deployed on the right-hand side of the defence and can be utilised as per the manager’s choice.

Ajax won’t let him go after losing Martinez and Antony to Manchester United and will try to protect him at any cost. Having already managed Timber, Erik ten Hag knows his strengths and weaknesses very well and would mould the player according to his needs.

The Manchester United boss has been promised more funds for next summer, and the right price will definitely lure the player to the Premier League.
