Liverpool are eyeing a move to sign FC Nordsjaelland’s Andreas Schjelderup in this window, but the 18-year-old seems to have other priorities.

According to TV2, Liverpool are among the teams interested in signing FC Nordsjaelland forward Andreas Schjelderup this month. The Danish side doesn’t particularly want their 10-goal attacking prodigy to depart, but their hands may be tied if the player wishes the other way.

Liverpool have possibly signed their main first-team attacker in the January window and may look to acquire other necessary targets. A midfielder and a defender could arrive before the end of January, but Jurgen Klopp also wants to focus on bringing in young talents for developmental purposes.

A few stars get mentioned with a move from other clubs with a younger age profile. Players like Kephren Thuram are linked, while many more are on their potential targets list. Klopp wants to add players to his set-up under the first team to aid their development and help the club bring in top talents for future years.

FC Nordskaelland star Andreas Schjelderup is the latest to see his name mentioned in the media in connection to Liverpool. The 10-goal attacking prodigy has made a name for himself with the Danish side and continues to shine this season. However, he has plenty of suitors apart from the Reds, with Brentford also keen on bringing him to England.

Schjelderup was also of interest to Arsenal earlier in the season, but as the Gunners focus on bringing other first-team targets, he may have gone on to the back burner. They may yet revive interest, but Liverpool and Brentford are at the forefront of the chase for now.

Liverpool already signed Cody Gakpo in this window, which wraps up their winter window in terms of signing attackers. However, Schjelderup might come in and develop into a future star. The player, however, has other plans as he feels moving to England so soon may hamper his development.

He has tremendous interest from Benfica and is reportedly keen to join the Portuguese giants this month. He may feel Benfica could help his development better than Liverpool or Brentford. He could also get ample minutes compared to being with the Premier League sides.

As things stand, Liverpool are keen, but a transfer may seem challenging to complete owing to the player’s stance. Benfica could become the beneficiary due to their stellar development schemes and could have the 10-goal attacking prodigy in the ranks by the end of the month.
