La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly hopeful of signing 18-year-old Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Borussia Dortmund will present one final offer to renew terms with Youssoufa Moukoko. The 18-year-old is a target for Barcelona, with the Blaugrana confident of snapping up the young striker.
Youssoufa Moukoko is one of the best young strikers in the world and has already raised many eyebrows in his young career. The teenage prodigy became the youngest-ever player in Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League as a 16-year-old. And he has already become a German international.
The 18-year-old is now a regular for Dortmund despite still being in his teenage. And Moukoko has enjoyed a solid 2022/23 season thus far, amassing six goals and six assists in 22 outings. But the youngster can sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club after entering the final six months of his contract. And such a situation has captured the attention of Barcelona.
Barcelona will look to sign a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski in the foreseeable future. That is despite signing the Polish striker ahead of the ongoing season. But it is worth noting that the former Bayern Munich ace is well into his thirties and approaching the final phase of his career.
So Barcelona must lay down a succession plan for Lewandowski, bringing Moukoko into the picture. With the 18-year-old German international in the final six months of his deal with Borussia Dortmund, the Blaugrana will seek a pre-contract agreement. But the Bundesliga giants will soon table their final contract offer to the teenage prodigy.
However, the Catalan giants are confident about signing the young striker in the summer transfer window. The player can initially learn the ropes from Robert Lewandowski while featuring regularly. And considering he is prioritising joining Barcelona, a Bosman move in the summer seems likely.
