La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly mulling over signing Edin Dzeko, a target for Manchester United.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb, Edin Dzeko is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are considering signing the Inter Milan striker in a Bosman move in the summer transfer window. And the 36-year-old is also a target for Premier League giants Manchester United.

Edin Dzeko has enjoyed a phenomenal career in the last decade and a half. The Bosnian striker rose to prominence when he joined VfL Wolfsburg from FK Teplice in July 2007. But his stock skyrocketed after moving to Manchester City in 2011, winning several trophies with the Citizens.

The 36-year-old has been in Serie A for the last seven and a half years, with his best spell coming at AS Roma. Dzeko joined Inter Milan from Roma in August 2021 and has been a handy asset for the Nerazzurri since then. The veteran striker is enjoying a solid 2022/23 campaign, amassing ten goals and four assists in 23 appearances thus far. And he has emerged on the radar of Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Real Madrid will need a short-term competitor for Karim Benzema before Endrick arrives at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Brazilian prodigy will formally complete his move to Real Madrid in July 2024. And Endrick will likely take a year or two before succeeding Benzema as the first-choice striker for Real Madrid.

But with the veteran Frenchman struggling with fitness issues this season, Real Madrid will need a handy alternative. And Dzeko is a viable target, considering he has been reasonably consistent for Inter Milan this term. But the 36-year-old has also been a target for Manchester United lately.

Manchester United will also need to invest in a striker this year after offloading Cristiano Ronaldo. And they were eyeing Dzeko as a potential January signing. But the Red Devils have shifted their attention towards Marcus Thuram. And that has cleared the way for Real Madrid to pursue the Bosnian international in the summer.

Real Madrid will look to sign the veteran striker in a Bosman move when his contract with Inter expires in June. But it will be interesting to see if the Nerazzurri can tie the player to a new deal in the coming weeks.
