Manchester United have reportedly decided to end their interest in disgruntled Atletico Madrid attacker Joao Felix.

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid. But the Red Devils are not willing to pay the reported loan fee for the Portuguese international.

The report from Sky Sports does not mention how much Atletico Madrid are demanding for the player. But it seems that the Spanish giants are looking for a substantial fee. And Manchester United are only prepared to offer £3.5 million to bring the player in on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 23-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth at the Spanish club, and he has started just six league games for them. Despite that, the Portuguese international has managed to score four league goals and impressed at the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Portugal.

It is no secret that Manchester United need to improve their attacking department following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. And his compatriot Felix would have been a quality acquisition for the Red Devils. Recent reports had even suggested that Manchester United were the front-runners to sign the youngster.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League for several weeks now. And it will be interesting to see if he can secure a transfer to an English club before the January transfer window closes.

Manchester United are currently reliant on Marcus Rashford as the only consistent goalscorer at the club. And it will be interesting to see if they can bring in another attacker before the January window closes.

The Red Devils are currently fighting for a place in the top four, and they will need to improve their squad to finish in the Champions League positions. Clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Chelsea are still chasing a berth in the top four. So Manchester United cannot afford to take any risks right now.

It seems unlikely that Atletico Madrid will allow Felix to join Manchester United for a knockdown price. So it is fair to assume that the Red Devils will have to move on to other targets soon. But other attackers, like Mohammed Kudus, remain on their radar.
