Everton are reportedly interested in signing French forward Elye Wahi, valued at €25 million by Montpellier.

According to a report from Media Foot, Elye Wahi is a target for Premier League club Everton. Montpellier will demand around €25 million to part ways with the French forward in the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old has been an impressive player for Montpellier, and he has seven goals to his name this season. Everton could certainly use more attacking depth, and Wahi could prove to be a quality long term addition.

Everton have had a disappointing season in the Premier League so far, and they are 16th in the table, just two points clear of the drop zone. Lampard will need to strengthen his squad in order to get his side to finish the season strongly.

Neal Maupay has not managed to find the back of the net consistently, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin has had persistent injury problems. Meanwhile, Everton released Salomon Rondon and will need to invest in a centre forward.

Bringing in a quality striker should be a top priority for Everton, and Wahi could be a useful option for them. The youngster will add goals and cutting edge in the final third for the Toffees. Wahi has the potential to develop into a quality Premier League striker, and Everton could help him develop and fulfil his potential.

The French forward is reportedly a target for Lyon as well, and it will be interesting to see if Everton can beat the Ligue 1 outfit to his services. Apparently the striker could be signed for a fee of around €25 million.

The reported €25 million asking price seems quite reasonable for a player of his talents and he could justify the outlay in the long run. Everton can certainly afford the asking price for Wahi, and it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds. The Toffees also showed interest in Matheus Cunha before he joined Wolverhampton Wanderers.

As for Wahi, the opportunity to move to the Premier League side could be an attractive option for the player. And he will be able to showcase his potential at a high level at Goodison Park. Everton are very much in the fight for survival and they need to perform at a high level during the second half of the season in order to beat the drop.

The Toffees must look to improve their squad before the January transfer window closes. Everton have also showed interest in several other striker, including Boulaye Dia. But it will be interesting to see if they prefer a move for Wahi over others.
