Chelsea are reportedly ready to offer 23-year-old defender Malang Sarr in the deal to sign AS Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile.

According to Media Foot, Chelsea are hoping to sign 21-year-old AS Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile in the coming weeks. And the Blues could look to include Malang Sarr in a deal to bring down the asking price for Badiashile.

It is no surprise that Chelsea are looking to bring in defenders, and Badiashile has emerged as a top target. Apparently, AS Monaco are demanding a fee of around €40 million for the Frenchman, and Chelsea are hoping to sign him for less than that.

It will be interesting to see if Monaco are willing to accept Malang Sarr as a part of the deal. The former Nice defender has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth at the west London club since joining them. And a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge would be ideal for the 23-year-old.

If Monaco are willing to give him regular opportunities, Sarr is likely to be tempted to join the French club next month. Meanwhile, Chelsea have already agreed on personal terms with Benoit Badiashile.

The Blues will need to find quality long-term alternatives for Cesar Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva in the upcoming windows. Both defenders are in their twilight years, and Graham Potter will need to form a young defensive core at the club.

Chelsea signed Wesley Fofana at the start of the season, but the former Leicester City defender has been sidelined with fitness issues. Badiashile could form a quality defensive partnership alongside his compatriot in the years to come.

Chelsea will be hoping to get the 21-year-old’s deal across the line in the next few days. And it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can come to an agreement soon. Badiashile will be tempted to join the Premier League club, and a move to Stamford Bridge would be a major step up in his career.

He will be determined to prove himself in the Premier League, and Chelsea could give him the platform to showcase his ability at a higher level. Furthermore, working under a manager like Graham Potter, who has helped nurture several young talents throughout the course of his managerial career, could help the Frenchman improve further and fulfill his potential.
