Youssoufa Moukoko is prioritising joining Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer amid interest from Chelsea and Liverpool.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Youssoufa Moukoko has made his mind up about his next destination. The German international will likely leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window. And he wants to join Barcelona on a free transfer instead of Chelsea or Liverpool.
Youssoufa Moukoko has been one of the most coveted players in the market since his youth career. The teenage prodigy took age-group football by storm in Germany before becoming the youngest-ever player in Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League history. And he has gradually become a regular for the Borussia Dortmund first team.
The 18-year-old has enjoyed a solid 2022/23 campaign thus far, amassing six goals and six assists in 22 outings. But the player’s contract situation has left Borussia Dortmund in a spot of bother. And the soon-to-be-free agent has emerged as a target for Barcelona, Chelsea, and Liverpool.
Barcelona will look to lay down a succession plan for Robert Lewandowski despite signing him in the summer. The Polish striker is well into his thirties, compelling the Blaugrana to be ready for life after him. And Moukoko has emerged as a viable target for Barcelona heading into the summer transfer window.
As for Chelsea, the west London club will likely replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang soon. The former Arsenal captain has not been impressive since arriving from Barcelona in the summer. And with Aubameyang on the wrong side of 30, Moukoko is an option worth considering. Recent reports even claimed that Chelsea had become the leader of the chasing pack.
As for Liverpool, the Reds do not need to sign a striker in the summer after signing Cody Gakpo. The versatile Dutch attacker can play across the frontline, making him an alternative to Darwin Nunez. And Liverpool might not have succeeded in signing Moukoko anyway, as he wants to join Barcelona.
