Real Madrid plotting 2024 move for Alphonso Davies

La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly considering a 2024 move for Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies.

According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Alphonso Davies is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are plotting a move for the Bayern Munich defender keeping the 2024 summer transfer window in mind.

Alphonso Davies has remodelled his game superbly since joining Bayern Munich from Vancouver Whitecaps. The Canadian international arrived in Germany in January 2019 and has gone from strength to strength in the last four years. And he has also made his mark on the international stage, taking Canada to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Once a promising young left-winger, Davies has been an exceptional left-back for Bayern Munich. And he is enjoying a solid 2022/23 season, chipping in with one goal and four assists in 19 outings thus far. The 22-year-old’s exploits have not gone unnoticed either, as he has emerged on the radar of Real Madrid.

Real Madrid might enter the market for a left-back in the summer transfer window. While Ferland Mendy remains the primary choice in the position for Los Blancos, his performance levels have dipped in the last twelve months. In addition, David Alaba is a reluctant left-back these days, thus prompting Real Madrid to look for a solution in the market.

At the same time, Mendy faces an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Real Madrid considering selling him. So it will not be surprising to see Los Blancos scour for a left-back in the market. But the report claims that Alphonso Davies is a target for the 2024 summer transfer window.

With Real Madrid keen on signing Josko Gvardiol, the Croat might become a temporary solution next season. And the reigning La Liga champions can then pursue the Bayern Munich defender in 18 months. But Real Madrid will likely face stiff competition from Barcelona, with the Blaugrana also showing interest.

But Bayern Munich might fight tooth and nail to keep hold of the 22-year-old. Considering Davies’ best years are well ahead of him, Bayern Munich will unlikely be open to selling him. It will be interesting to see if the Canadian international joins Real Madrid in 2024.
