Barcelona forward Memphis Depay has been linked with a move to Newcastle United in recent weeks, but a move will unlikely materialise.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Newcastle United are not in talks with Barcelona regarding 28-year-old Dutch international Memphis Depay. And the player is focused on staying at Spotify Camp Nou.
Newcastle United could definitely use some attacking reinforcements in January, and it will be interesting to see if they decide to dip into the transfer market to bring in a quality attacker. Recent reports had claimed that the Magpies were leading the race to sign Depay.
The Barcelona attacker is in the final six months of his contract. And he will be able to leave Barcelona on a free transfer at the end of the season. There have been rumours that the player could leave in January, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
The 28-year-old scored 13 goals across all competitions for Barcelona last season. But he has fallen down the pecking order since the arrivals of Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski at the start of the season. The Dutch international needs to play regularly at this stage of his career. And it is evident that Barcelona will not be able to provide him with that platform.

Furthermore, the Catalan giants are thought to be under financial pressure, and they could look to get rid of the 28-year-old get his wages of their books. The player has been linked with a move back to the Premier League. And it remains to be seen whether any English club is willing to provide him with an exit route next month.
Newcastle would have been an interesting move for the Barcelona attacker. But he will unlikely join the Magpies in the January transfer window. The 28-year-old has played for Manchester United in the past. But he had an underwhelming spell at the Old Trafford club.
Depay will be determined to prove his quality in English football, and a move to the Premier League could be appealing for the player. The Dutch international can operate anywhere across the front three and will add creativity and goals to a team. Furthermore, his versatility will be a bonus for any club he joins.
