Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur are set to table offers for Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar in January.
As per TEAMtalk, Premier League giants Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool will soon submit their proposals in the hope to sign Milan Skriniar if he leaves Serie A giants Inter Milan.
The Slovakian defender is approaching the end of his contract and he could be a free agent next summer. But Inter Milan won’t want to lose him at all, although all of their advances towards contract negotiations have gone in vain so far.
If the Serie A giants fail to reach a consensus, they can decide to let the player leave for a certain fee in January. There won’t be a dearth of suitors as Chelsea and Manchester City also have been credited with an interest in the 27-year-old.
The defender has already hit the prime of his career and is even ahead of his peers in some aspects. Manchester United brought in Lisandro Martinez in the summer. But Raphael Varane’s persistent injury issues have kept them on the edge. In addition, there has been severe uncertainty regarding Harry Maguire’s long-term future at the club.
Meanwhile, Tottenham manager Antonio Conte is not convinced about Davinson Sanchez’s ability, while Clement Lenglet will return to Barcelona upon the completion of his loan deal. As for Liverpool, the Reds boast of a pretty strong defensive unit. But their recent performances have led to many believe they will need some reinforcements in January. And given a chance, they will tap into the transfer market.
Eminent reporter Graeme Bailey has claimed that several teams will be vying for Skriniar’s signature and will soon table their offers. “Milan Skriniar is genuinely one of the best free agents who could ever become available, he would be right up there with someone like Antonio Rudiger.”
“Most clubs who are now showing an interest did not believe that he would be leaving Inter, but their attempts to tie him to a new contract have thus far not proven successful. Inter still believe that they will convince him to stay but he will very soon be able to field those pre-contract offers.”
“Paris Saint-Germain were always and still are, but now all the Premier League top clubs are interested – the chance to land one of the world’s best defenders at 27, does not come along too often. So even someone like Manchester City, who don’t have a new centre-half at the top of their wanted list, are ready to put an offer to him. But so are Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle. The battle for Skriniar will be fascinating if he decides to leave.”
It remains to be seen who wins his race as he will be the hottest property in this winter transfer window. For now, it looks like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham, among others, will soon approach the Slovakian defender to reach a pre-contract agreement.
