Barcelona will only sign Youssoufa Moukoko, a target for Chelsea and Liverpool, in a Bosman move, thus ruling out a January deal.
According to a report by Football Transfers, Barcelona will not launch the offensive for Youssoufa Moukoko in the January transfer window. The 18-year-old Borussia Dortmund striker is also a target for Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United.
Youssoufa Moukoko has been on the radars of several high-profile clubs since taking age-group football by storm in Germany. The teenage wonderkid was so impactful in his youth career that he became the youngest-ever debutant in the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League two years ago.
The 18-year-old is now a regular for Borussia Dortmund while also breaking into the German national squad. And Moukoko is enjoying a solid 2022/23 campaign, amassing six goals and six assists in 22 outings thus far. But the youngster could leave Dortmund as a free agent, with his situation alerting Barcelona, Chelsea, and Liverpool.
Barcelona signed a world-class striker in the summer, and Robert Lewandowski has been top-class for the Blaugrana. But the veteran Polish striker is in the final phase of his career, forcing Barcelona to lay down a succession plan. Moukoko has thus emerged as a viable target. And recent reports have claimed that the Catalan giants have established contact with him.
As for Chelsea, the Blues are reportedly the front-runners to sign the 18-year-old. And the interest in the German international is understandable, considering the struggles of former Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Chelsea will thus view Moukoko as a long-term solution in the final third.
Liverpool and Moukoko have also been in touch. But it is unclear how the Merseyside outfit will fit the teenage prodigy as a regular after signing Darwin Nunez in the summer. Nonetheless, the Borussia Dortmund striker remains a top target for Liverpool. Meanwhile, Barcelona will only pursue Moukoko in the summer instead of signing him in January.
The Catalan giants do not have any funds for a January move, even for a cut-price deal. That gives Chelsea and Liverpool the initiative to secure Moukoko’s services this winter. Manchester United will also be in the equation, and Barcelona might have an uphill task to land the 18-year-old.
