Manchester United have rebuffed an approach from Chelsea for their young forward Alejandro Garnacho.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, as relayed by Caught Offside, Chelsea have an approach turned down by Manchester United for Alejandro Garnacho. The 18-year-old has been a revelation since bursting onto the scene in the senior setup.

Garnacho’s breakthrough campaign already ignited interest in a number of clubs and the likes of Real Madrid are believed to be keeping a tab on the movement of the player.

The Argentine was snatched from the Atletico Madrid youth academy back in 2020 and it didn’t take him long to break into the first team. Despite making rounds for the youth teams he had to wait for a brief period as Erik ten Hag wasn’t very sure of him.

The Dutch manager later admitted the player needed to change his attitude towards the game which earned him a deserved call-up to the team. Despite being given very little time on the pitch the teenager already made his short stint memorable with a brilliant winner against Fulham in the dying minutes.

United are aware of the hype surrounding his talent and are pretty eager to offer him a brand-new contract to fend off interest from other suitors. The winger currently earns £5000 per week and will get a significant rise to the tune of £50000 per week should he commit to extending his stay at Old Trafford.

Chelsea have a number of exciting talents at their disposal with the likes of Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah but their handling of young players has always attracted severe criticism.

Garnacho would be more than happy to sign fresh terms as his development is assured under the new manager. His head might get turned by lucrative approaches but he is expected to be the key player for the Red Devils in the coming years.

With Cristiano Ronaldo now gone there will be places up for grabs as Jadon Sancho’s return to the setup also looks to be in the doldrums. Garnacho has already shown he can be trusted in crunch games and with the fixtures piling up ahead ten Hag could have an asset hiding under his sleeve.
