Manchester United have decided not to pursue the Inter Milan right back Denzel Dumfries due to his high price.

As per Fabrizio Romano, as relayed by Caught Offside, Manchester United will move on to other targets from Denzel Dumfries as they find him very expensive. The Red Devils are destined to sign a new right back in January.

Erik ten Hag has used Diogo Dalot as his first choice right back for the entire period as the Portuguese international has finally found his rhythm at the club. He has been an everpresent on the right side of the defence but the player has already entered the last six months of his contract and could be able to sign a pre-contract in any other club next month.

Although there is a one-year extension clause in his contract, the club has the intention to tie the player for a longer period. It is suggested the player will be open to such circumstances and fresh terms might not be a problem.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka hasn’t been used much by the manager and the 25-year-old will try to secure a move elsewhere for more regular game time. The club will not stand in his way and there could be a new right back arriving at the club.

United have been credited with an interest in several potential candidates and  Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong has been one of them. The young player has already lit up the Bundesliga and Fabrizio Romano also insisted the Dutch could be one of the options.

“Manchester United position on right back situation is clear: priority is to extend Diogo Dalot’s contract, it will be discussed soon. Then it will be time to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka, agents are exploring Premier League destinations. Then to replace him with new right back, Denzel Dumfries as of today is too expensive; Jeremie Frimpong is just one of many options. It’s still early.”

Inter would try to demand a hefty fee for Dumfries as the Netherlands international exceeded expectations in the World Cup and any suitors will have to pay a certain premium on top of the previously quoted price.
