Manchester United are ready to wage a battle with Arsenal and Chelsea to secure a move for Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Manchester United are seriously considering a move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who has also attracted attention from Chelsea and Arsenal. The Serb joined the Italian giants in January last year. But the Bianconeri do not view him as an untouchable asset anymore.
Arsenal pursued the young forward for a great amount of time as they thought he could be a perfect fit for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. But Vlahovic preferred Juventus over the Gunners. Nevertheless, the north Londoners are ready to renew their interest in the Serb, with Gabriel Jesus set for a long spell on the sidelines. Mikel Arteta has thus set his sight on the young striker.
Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag’s current offensive options are limited, and the Dutch manager is adamant to add a new pair of feet to his squad. Marcus Rashford’s ravishing form has not proven enough for Manchester United as their struggles in the final third have been visibly evident.
Manchester United already have been linked with a move for PSV Eindhoven attacker Gakpo. But they are already stacked with wide players, and a more natural number nine has been missing. Vlahovic can fill that gap as he has been one of the most widely regarded number strikers in Europe. And his aerial prowess should also help him in the Premier League if he does arrive.
As for Chelsea, the Blues have been dealt with a massive blow as Armando Broja has been sidelined for the remaining part of the season. So Graham Potter would be expecting a new striker to arrive at Stamford Bridge.
Christopher Nkunku is on the verge of sealing a move to the West London outfit. But he prefers to operate from behind the central striker, and the Blues are looking for a goal-poaching forward. Vlahovic has thus emerged as a viable target for Chelsea. With Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech poised to depart, there would be enough room for Vlahovic as it stands.
Manchester United would be happy to initiate contact with Juventus next month. But their summer outlay could make them a bit edgy when it comes to affording a player tagged with a big price. For now, they are ready to make their move for the Juventus striker, hoping to beat Arsenal and Chelsea to his signature.
