Real Madrid set to sign Vinicius Tobias permanently

La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly set to secure the services of 18-year-old Brazilian defender Vinicius Tobias in a permanent deal.

According to a report by Spanish publication MARCA, Vinicius Tobias will remain at Real Madrid beyond the summer transfer window. Los Blancos will shell out €10 million to secure the services of the Brazilian defender on a permanent deal.

Vinicius Tobias joined Real Madrid in the wake of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. And with FIFA allowing players based in Ukraine to join other clubs on loan, Real Madrid pounced and snapped up the 18-year-old. So the teenage prodigy has been with Los Blancos since April 2022, blowing hot and cold since then.

But the Brazilian defender has shown improved output in the last few weeks. And Vinicius Tobias’s tally of four assists in 18 appearances thus far this season is solid enough. In addition, his coaches at Real Madrid Castilla have projected a bright future for the young full-back.

Vinicius could thus be a long-term solution in the right-back slot for Real Madrid. And with Dani Carvajal blowing hot and cold in the last couple of years, the 18-year-old might soon appear on the first-team scene. But it will be interesting to see how that hampers Real Madrid’s move for a right-back.

Recent reports have linked Los Blancos with several right-backs, including Jeremie Frimpong. But if the reigning La Liga champions view Vinicius Tobias as a long-term future in the right-back slot, a move for an immediate solution will unlikely materialise. And that might be the case, with Real Madrid set to sign the Brazilian defender permanently.

The report claims that Real Madrid will likely shell out €10 million to convert the loan into a permanent deal. In addition, Vinicius will remain with Real Madrid Castilla if they secure a promotion to the Segunda Division. That is because Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez should continue as the preferred right-backs in the first team, as per the report.

For now, the 18-year-old Brazilian defender is on the verge of joining Real Madrid permanently in a deal worth €10 million. It will be interesting to see if he continues his progress and becomes a pivotal figure for the first team in the future.
