Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing 18-year-old Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko in the January transfer window.

According to a report from 90min, Chelsea are looking to bring in attacking reinforcements in January after the injury to Armando Broja. And they have opened talks with the agent of Youssoufa Moukoko.

The 18-year-old German international has been a key player for Dortmund this season, and he is expected to leave them at the end of the season. His contract will expire in June, and the Bundesliga outfit have not been able to agree on an extension with him yet.

Moukoko is widely regarded as a world-class talent who has the potential to develop into a superstar. Chelsea could certainly use someone like him, and it will be interesting to see if they can secure an agreement with Dortmund and sign him for a nominal price next month.

The player will be eligible to agree on a pre-contract deal with foreign clubs in January as well, and Chelsea could look to secure him on a free transfer at the end of the season. Meanwhile, the west Londoners have initiated talks with the 18-year-old German international.

The January window is Dortmund’s final opportunity to cash in on the player. And it would make sense if they decided to sell the player for a knockdown price next month instead of waiting until the summer window and losing him for free. The opportunity to move to the Premier League could be an exciting option for Moukoko, and he would get to test himself and a higher level.

Playing against the best defenders in the Premier League will only accelerate his development and help him fulfil his tremendous potential. Graham Potter did well to nurture the young players during his time at Brighton and Hove Albion, and he could have a positive impact on Moukoko’s development as well.

Chelsea are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struggling to hit top form. The German international has six goals and six assists across all competitions, and he could prove to be a useful addition to the Chelsea attack during the second half of the campaign.
