Jurgen Klopp wants Moussa Diaby in January as Liverpool eyes an attacking addition next month to bolster their options.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool are chasing a few attacking talents in the market, including Moussa Diaby. The Bayer Leverkusen winger was tipped to depart in the summer, but his asking price proved difficult for interested parties to cough up.

Moussa Diaby might seek a January transfer away from Bayer Leverkusen, as there is considerable interest in the attacker. The 23-year-old Bundesliga winger was a big target for some of the Premier League sides, but no club came close to agreeing on a deal with the German side.

Newcastle United were one of the heavily linked sides during the summer window. The Magpies retain an interest, but they will remain wary if Leverkusen continues to demand the same prices they did back in August, as there’s no reason for his valuation to plummet.

Apart from Newcastle, even Manchester United are reportedly keen and now joined by Liverpool in registering an interest in the 23-year-old Bundesliga winger. Jurgen Klopp has identified the need to bring in attacking reinforcements in January and could switch his attention toward the Frenchman.

Liverpool’s season has suffered due to multiple factors, and one of those is losing Sadio Mane. The Reds did not sign a good replacement for the Senegal star and lost Luis Diaz to a long injury this season. The Colombian winger is expected to remain sidelined until March, which could make Klopp think about a new player next month.

Diaby could play on either wing, but Klopp is keen on bringing someone on the left side of the attack. A move could materialise if the price tag is in Liverpool’s range, something they might have to negotiate with Leverkusen. In hindsight, Diaby could prove a good, shrewd signing for the Reds, one who could improve their attack drastically.

Things could get interesting if some other interested parties come in with approaches in January. It would benefit Leverkusen vastly, but not so much Liverpool, who will ideally look to bring the price down than paying a huge fee.
