According to a report by Daily Mirror, Chelsea are interested in signing Diego Moreira. The west Londoners are hoping to use their healthy relations with Jorge Mendes to land the 18-year-old Benfica winger.
The highly-talented attacker has caught the attention of the Premier League giants with his performances. And it will be interesting to see if Chelsea can secure his services in the summer transfer window.
The 18-year-old has a contract with Benfica until the summer of 2024, and the Portuguese giants are hoping to agree on an extension with him. However, they have not managed to agree on a deal with the player and his agent Jorge Mendes so far. If Moreira does not sign an extension, Benfica could be forced to consider a summer sale.
Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has shown a willingness to invest in quality young players, and Moreira would be a superb long-term signing for the Blues. He has the potential to develop into a key player for the Premier League club. Meanwhile, the Blues have also shown interest in other young attackers like Youssoufa Moukoko.
As for Moreira, the 18-year-old has been likened to the former Chelsea star Eden Hazard because of his playing style. The Portuguese winger will have to decide on his next move carefully. He cannot afford to sit on the bench at a top club.

Given his contract situation, it is fair to assume that he could be available for a reasonable fee in the summer. Chelsea could look to sign him up and then loan him back out so that he can get first-team action on a regular basis.
The Blues need to improve their attacking department in the upcoming windows. And it is no surprise that they are looking at a winger. That said, Moreira might not be ready to influence matters for the first team just yet.
