Arsenal have reportedly approached to understand the status of Dusan Vlahovic as they target the Serbian for a January move.

According to Tuttosport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Arsenal have asked for information regarding the availability of Dusan Vlahovic, as Mikel Arteta is ready to reignite an interest in the Serbian. Many Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, are willing to sign the Juventus striker, with the Italian club seeking at least €80 million in return.

Dusan Vlahovic is yet to flourish in a Juventus shirt despite nearing the year mark since joining the club from Sassuolo. After much drama in the background involving his agent and Arsenal, the Serie A giants won the chase for the coveted Serbian frontman.

The Gunners were keen on signing Vlahovic and wanted him to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. However, Arteta only wanted the Serb and ended that window without signing another striker. The decision eventually cost the Gunners a place in the UEFA Champions League.

Arsenal are at the crossroads once more as they face a similar situation to last January. The injury to Gabriel Jesus will hurt the team and their quest for the Premier League title. The Brazilian striker will remain absent until at least March, with Eddie Nketiah the only viable cover in his place.

Nketiah can prove a solid bet when surrounded by quality stars such as Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. But Arteta wants to avoid taking a risk going into a crucial period with one senior striker. The Gunners also pondered recalling Folarin Balogun from his loan spell, although they are unlikely to pursue the idea.

Hence, Arteta could revive the interest in Vlahovic among other players. Memphis Depay is also a reported option, which is a cheap one. However, from a stylistic perspective, the Serb still fits Arsenal’s style and will give them a new dimension while leading the line.

The Gunners have reportedly enquired about the striker and may have asked his agent for further information regarding his availability. The report suggests Juventus could entertain offers of around €80 million, the sum they paid to acquire him a year ago.

Vlahovic is also a target for Chelsea, with the Blues reportedly looking for a new striker in the upcoming window. The ACL injury sustained by young forward Armando Broja has depleted their depth in the position. As it is, they were unconvinced by current options in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kai Havertz.

Chelsea may be open paying the required €80 million, but Arsenal might negotiate the price. Ultimately, it will come down to Juventus and the player’s willingness to move after only one year at his ‘dream club’.

If the Turin giants are to receive sizeable approaches for the Serbian striker, they might consider offloading him amid all the financial trouble they currently find themselves in. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal or Chelsea can secure his services.
