Bayern Munich would reportedly not be interested in a “barter deal” for Kingsley Coman involving Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic, as it would be like exchanging “a Ferrari for a Fiat.”

Chelsea’s mooted proposal to sell Christian Pulisic in exchange for Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman has been dubbed “swapping a Ferrari for a Fiat” by SportBILD journalist Christian Falk, according to statements relayed by FCBInside.

The well-respected journalist emphasizes such a swap “makes no sense at all” and Bayern will only have a “tired smile” for any Chelsea approach involving Coman. The Bavarians are reported to be “very, very happy” with their winger and would not even consider selling the Frenchman even if the Blues were to offer significant cash plus Pulisic offer.

Pulisic’s future at Stamford Bridge has been hanging in the balance for a long time now. The American forward arrived at Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in a big-money deal in 2019. He was regarded as one of the most promising attackers in Europe back then but has failed to live up to expectations.

His future has been up in the air since last season when he was clearly unhappy with his lack of minutes. That comes as no surprise given that he only got 13 Premier League starts last term but was still effective, being involved in eight goals (6 goals, 2 assists). Many people thought a change of manager could have changed the scenery for the American.

However, that has not been the case. If anything, he has dropped down the pecking order under Graham Potter and is eager to move on in search of regular football.

Pulisic has made 18 competitive outings for the Blues in the current season, but only five of those have actually been starts. The 24-year-old has just 18 months left on his contract at Chelsea, and the Blues are considering the possibility of cashing in on Pulisic before the summer.

Pulisic has become a transfer target for several teams following his exploits with the USMNT at the World Cup, including Premier League high-flyers Newcastle United. Manchester United have also set their sights on him after sacking star striker Cristiano Ronaldo in a surprise turn of events.

However, Chelsea are careful about selling Pulisic to a Premier League rival and have been exploring other ways to get rid of the American international.

Sport.fr recently reported Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman could be targeted as Potter looks to add more firepower to his attacking ranks after a mixed start to his managerial tenure at Stamford Bridge, with a part-exchange offer involving Pulisic in the works.

However, it seems any Chelsea approach regarding the swap deal will likely face swift rejection as Bayern have no intention of losing Coman, who has been a good servant to the club and is well-liked by boss Julian Nagelsmann.

When it comes to professional accomplishments and experience, the two are like chalk and cheese. Coman has been a serial winner throughout his career and has almost won every club-level trophy under the sun across multiple European leagues. Furthermore, the Bavarians are also not keen to add another winger-cum-attacker to their roster in January.

With recent reports claiming Pulisic is increasingly frustrated at Stamford Bridge, a permanent departure in 2023 might be on the cards. But Bayern will unlikely be his next destination.
