Young Danish goalkeeper Theo Sander is the subject of interest from Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United, among other teams.
According to TEAMtalk, Theo Sander is attracting plenty of interest from Premier League clubs. The Danish prospect became the youngest goalkeeper in Eliteserien history, and clubs from England have taken little time to register their admiration.
There is plenty of talk around a certain Theo Sander, a 17-year-old goalkeeper with Aalborg BK in Norway. While the Eliteserien club are now much known in big league circles, their shot-stopper is undoubtedly coming to the fore and taking the spotlight.
Sander made his senior debut in August for Aalborg and has since become their first-choice goalkeeper. It is rare for any stopper to become a no.1 at their club unless they are an exceptional talent. For instance, some of the names that come to mind are Gianluigi Donnarumma and Gianluigi Buffon, who have forged successful careers since making their debuts at a very young age.
Similarly, Sander is expected to make it big in the future and already has the eyeballs of some top teams from the Premier League. The stopper was reportedly on trial with Juventus in the summer but signed a contract with Aalborg until 2025.
Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United are keeping tabs on the top Danish prospect and could make an offer in the coming weeks. Brentford are also in the race and could use their Danish connections to broker a deal.
The Bees and their manager Thomas Frank have achieved much success with Danish players, which could appeal to Sander in the future. However, joining a more prominent club like Aston Villa, Newcastle United, or Arsenal could also be tempting for the 17-year-old.
The Gunners are looking at the player for their future team. Mikel Arteta relies on Aaron Ramsdale to keep the goal, with Matt Turner in the deputy role. While the duo is expected to remain unhindered for the long term, Sander could be a solid prospect in the next many years.
The idea of promotion within a side in the next few seasons would tempt Sander. So joining Arsenal may prove problematic. The case with Newcastle United and Aston Villa could be similar, although, with the latter, the road could prove straightforward. Villa have also shown interest in Yassine Bounou recently.
As of now, Brentford may have a stronghold in prising the Danish prospect away from Aalborg. They have David Raya, who could join another team in the future amid interest from Tottenham. Hence the chances of him becoming a no.1 in a Premier League team is much higher at Brentford.
The likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle United are exciting clubs for any young player to consider, especially the Magpies, who have embarked on an exciting new project. For now, Sander will want to continue playing for Aalborg and gain more experience with the first team.
