Chelsea are reportedly ready to pay €150 million to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, a target for Liverpool.

According to a report from Spanish outlet Cadena SER, Chelsea are prepared to break their transfer record and spend up to €150 million on Jude Bellingham when the transfer window opens at the end of the season. The talented England international is also a target for Liverpool.

Bellingham is widely regarded as a world-class talent, and he has been exceptional for his club and country over the last few months. The 19-year-old has been the best young player at the World Cup over the last few weeks, and he could be a sensational long-term signing for any club.

Chelsea are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements, and it is no surprise that they are willing to break the bank for Bellingham. Key players like Jorginho and N’Golo Kante are nearing the end of their contracts and could leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season. Graham Potter will thus need to bring in quality alternatives, and Bellingham would be a smart signing.

The 19-year-old is already a top-class player and is likely to improve further with time. He has all the attributes to develop into a superstar in the future. The player has been linked with Premier League rivals Liverpool as well. Jurgen Klopp is determined to sign the 19-year-old to improve his midfield options, and the Reds have been laying the groundwork for a while now.

It will be interesting to see if Chelsea can fend off the competition from Liverpool and secure the signature of the 19-year-old in the coming months. Meanwhile, Real Madrid are also keen on signing Bellingham but will not pay €150 million to secure his services.

Bellingham is an elite talent, and he is likely to have his pick of clubs during the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see what the midfielder decides. It is fair to assume that he will want to join a club with UEFA Champions League football. So Chelsea and Liverpool will have to finish in the top four in order to attract him.

The reported €150 million fee seems quite steep right now, but Bellingham has the potential to justify the outlay in the long run.
