Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season.

Simon Phillips has told Give Me Sport that Christian Pulisic is looking to leave Stamford Bridge in search of regular football. And the 24-year-old American international has made his intentions clear to Premier League club Chelsea.

Journalist Simon Phillips said to GMS: “I think he’s open to leaving. He’s definitely made that clear. But, right now, he’s focusing on the World Cup. When he gets back, Chelsea are going to have a conversation with him about the 2024 contract because that’s when it runs out.”

Pulisic has not been able to establish himself as a regular starter at Stamford Bridge since his move from Borussia Dortmund and he needs to leave the club in order to play more often.

The 24-year-old is certainly a top-class talent, and he is unlikely to have any shortage of suitors if he decides to move on. The report further states that Chelsea will hold talks with him regarding his long-term future at the club, and it remains to be seen whether the Blues can convince him to continue at the London club.

Pulisic has not been a key part of Graham Potter’s first-team plans so far this season. And it will be interesting to see if the Chelsea manager is willing to give him an extended run in the side in order to convince him that Stamford bridge is the right place for him to continue his career.

The Blues are lacking in depth in the attacking department, and the departure of Pulisic could be a blow for them. Chelsea will have to bring in the right reinforcements in January, and it remains to be seen whether they can sign a quality attacker midway through the season.

The Blues are vying for a place in the top four, and they will need to improve the squad to secure Champions League qualification for the next season. Pulisic was impressive for his country in the ongoing World Cup, and he has a contract with Chelsea until the summer of 2024.

If the £150,000-a-week star refuses to sign an extension with the Blues, it would be wise of Chelsea to cash in on him. They will not want to lose him on a free transfer at the end of next season.
