La Liga heavyweights Barcelona have reportedly established contact with 19-year-old Valencia prodigy Javi Guerra, a target for Real Madrid.

According to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona and Real Madrid have stepped up their efforts to sign Javi Guerra. The two La Liga heavyweights are in contact with the 19-year-old Valencia midfielder, who could leave Los Che as a free agent next summer.

Javi Guerra is one of the most promising young midfielders in Spain making his mark in age-group football. The Spaniard passed through the Villarreal academy in his formative years before joining Valencia in July 2019. And he made his first-team debut for Los Che last season, although that was only a one-minute cameo.

The 19-year-old is currently plying his trade for Valencia B and enjoying a solid 2022/23 season. Guerra has turned out 13 times in the fourth tier of Spanish football, chipping in with one goal and one assist. And the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with Barcelona and Real Madrid setting their sights on him.

The two La Liga heavyweights want to sign Guerra next year, with a Bosman move likely. The teenage prodigy will enter the final six months of his contract in January, making him an appealing target for Barcelona and Real Madrid. And recent reports have suggested that Barcelona and Real Madrid want him to bolster their reserve sides.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are constantly in the market for promising prospects and have brought in many young prodigies over the years. Barcelona most recently signed Pablo Torre from Racing Santander. On the other hand, players like Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes are already pivotal figures for Real Madrid.

As for Javi Guerra, the 19-year-old Valencia midfielder has the ability to become a future solution for Barcelona and Real Madrid. But he will need to go through the grind of lower tiers of Spanish football before becoming a vital cog for their first teams. And the two clubs are already in contact with his representatives.

Meanwhile, Valencia will look to secure Guerra’s long-term future instead of losing him for free next summer. For now, his situation gives Barcelona and Real Madrid a handy chance to secure his services.
